Our Model

The Indaba Education Fund (IEF) invests in world-class Montessori teacher training, learning materials, and educational infrastructure for Early Childhood Development (ECD) teachers.

ECD is an opportunity to create a positive education beginning for so many. The IEF’s long term goal is to have an impact that will truly be able to change a global paradigm. We want to offer as many children as we can the chance to realize their dreams and make a better life for themselves and their families.

Provides internationally-accredited
Montessori teacher training

The Indaba Montessori Institute (IMI) trains Early Childhood Development educators in Montessori so they may bring the all-encompassing approach to South African Winelands’ schools. The IMI is the only one of two institutions providing permanent, formal, and accredited training of Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) practitioners on the African continent, initially focusing on the critical phase of 0 to 6 years old.

Students who are committed to pursuing a career in Montessori education in South Africa, notably in the Winelands communities, but lack the necessary funds are welcome to apply for a bursary to the Indaba Montessori Institute’s upcoming 0-3 AMI Assistants to Infancy teacher training course.

The IEF will award bursaries only to students who are in genuine need of financial aid. Expenses covered include tuition, full accommodation and catering for the duration of each module for the course.

The IMI is housed in the Stellenbosch based Sustainability Institute (SI).
